Probably the biggest hurdle to overcome for the vast majority of schools in South Africa is the lack of sports fields. By sourcing services from local businesses, we provide a means for everyone to benefit while at the same time enabling better social cohesion.
But where do we start? This choice can’t be made by any single organization, as it will always put someone at the end of a very big list. There are governmental bodies put in place to monitor the needs of every community in South Africa, and we are localizing our approach in solving the problem by putting our strategies in line with those of the official Department of Education districts, starting with Ekurhuleni North and working our way outwards. As more districts get on board, we will readily scale to cater to South Africa as a whole.
Here’s an excerpt from the official letter of endorsement we received from the District Director’s office at Ekurhuleni North:
The organization’s vision is in line with the Gauteng Department of Education Strategic Drivers for 2014-2019 and MEC Hon Panyaza Lesufi – Pillar 7: Social Cohesion – wherein school sport is prioritised around Soccer, Rugby, Cricket and Netball in all public schools within the province, as well as revitalising the Wednesday Sports Days, have sports leagues and enter into an agreement with municipalities to maintain playing fields.
